What exactly is fine art photography?
It’s a question many people aren’t comfortable trying to answer – it tends to be very subjective and can lead to lengthy discussion and debate. It doesn’t necessarily have to. Steve will delve into some objective ways of looking at what defines a fine art photograph, drawing on examples from his own portraiture work and the fine art works of some of his favourite Australian photographers.
Biography
Steve Wise is a fine art portrait photographer and accredited medical photographer with AIMBI in line with his work as a medical photographer at Royal Perth Hospital. He concurrently runs his own commercial photography business 27Creative, whilst feeding his personal love of art and visual narrative through his fine art portraiture.
Steve is an Ambassador for Epson Australia. He was the winner of the 2021 Siena Creative Photo Awards Portraiture Category, a finalist in the 2021 Perth Centre For Photography IRIS Portrait Award and the 2018 AIPP Australian Portrait Photographer of the Year. He is also a past winner of the Fremantle International Portrait Prize and finalist in the National Photographic Portrait Prize.
